The Whale Tail Project at the Mallorca Car Week 2024: Johans Lamic and Susan Frania Unite Art and Automotive Culture

As part of the International Concours d’Elegance, The Whale Tail Project, led by artist Johans Lamic, will exhibit its works alongside a historic 1957 Porsche Speedster 356. Since 2023, Johans and his manager, Susan Frania, have been partners of Mallorca Car Week, where they bring a fresh, creative perspective to the event.

The story of The Whale Tail Project began in 2019 when Johans purchased his first Porsche, an ’84 3.2 Carrera Targa. A lifelong car enthusiast, Johans was drawn to the classic Porsche for its iconic design, reliable six-cylinder engine, and air-cooled system. Initially, he planned to restore and customize the car.

However, during the car’s complete disassembly, the beauty of the spoiler captivated him. Rather than discarding it, he decided to turn it into a work of art, envisioning it as a centerpiece for his living room.

With meticulous craftsmanship and a deep appreciation for Porsche’s legacy, Johans transformed the spoiler into a masterpiece. His work blends artistic vision with the Porsche spirit, combining history, technology, and automotive artistry.

Through their partnership, Mallorca Car Week benefits from the extensive expertise Johans and Susan bring from both the automotive and art worlds. Their contributions not only enrich the event but also strengthen the connection between art and car design, creating a unique experience for visitors.

Starting in 2024, Mallorca Car Week will emphasize the fusion of art and automotive design. A key part of this initiative is the Arte Sobre Ruedas Mallorca project, which aims to merge the artistic side of automobiles with other creative disciplines.
